Social + dating: how getme works

Most apps make you choose between dating and social. getme combines them, because real life doesn’t separate them neatly. Here’s how it works.
1. Create your profile
Sign up with your email or Google. You must be 18 or over. Add photos, a short bio, three prompts and your interests, choose your suburb, and say what you’re looking for: dating, friends, a chat, or any mix.
2. Discover people near you
Discover shows people in your suburb first, then your city, then further out, up to the distance you choose. Filter by age, gender and what people are looking for, and see shared interests at a glance. Your exact location is never shown, only your suburb and an approximate distance if you allow it.
3. Like something specific
Like a whole profile, or like a particular photo or prompt and add a comment. That comment becomes the first message if you match, which makes it much easier to start a conversation. Super Likes let someone know you’re especially keen.
4. Match and chat
Chat unlocks only when both of you like each other, so there are no unsolicited messages from strangers. Icebreakers help you get started, and you can share photos once you’ve matched.
5. Make friends and share
getme has a social side too. Follow people, send friend requests, and share posts and photos in your feed. Like and comment on posts, and see what your friends are up to.
